The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) Ltd yesterday handed around the initial batch of alternative residences to Undertaking Impacted Individuals (PAPs) along its route in the districts of Kikuube, Kakumiro, Kyankwanzi, Sembabule, Rakai, Kyotera, and Lwengo.
The pipeline venture affected a complete of 2,648 people, 203 of whom were bodily displaced, while 178 chose to obtain substitution housing rather than financial compensation.
The hand about event of the fully furnished residences was graced by Minister of Power and Mineral Growth, Ms. Ruth Nankabirwa, at Nkoma B Village in the Lwengo District.
