Hankin Group, a leading real estate developer, celebrated the grand opening of Hankin Manor, a state-of-the-art, affordable, senior housing community in the heart of Phoenixville Borough, at a ribbon-cutting ceremony with community leaders and instrumental partners.

Hankin Manor sits on the site of the former Borough maintenance facility, and residents have already begun moving in, with the community expected to fill quickly.

“Hankin Manor is a testament to the forward-thinking of the Phoenixville Borough,” said Bob Hankin, CEO of Hankin Group. “They had identified a need in their community and a property in need of repurposing. We were tapped to do what we do best, come up with an elegant solution that helps lift the community. We believe we’ve accomplished that with the design of Hankin Manor and will continue to support the community with our award-winning property management team at Hankin Apartments.”

The grand opening was marked with words of enthusiasm and support from Robin Wiessmann, Executive Director and CEO of PA Housing Finance Agency, Peter Urscheler, Mayor of Phoenixville, Jonathan Ewald, Phoenixville Borough Council President, and Chester County Commissioners Marian Moskowitz, Josh Maxwell, and Eric Roe, and Hankin Group CEO, Bob Hankin.

“Phoenixville has seen tremendous growth which has been reflected in rising housing prices,” said Ewald. “We knew we had to act quickly to prevent our elders from being priced out of the community they call home. Hankin Group has tremendous experience creating value for the communities in which they develop, they were the ideal partner for this project vital to the fabric of Phoenixville.”

“Our senior citizens are a treasure of the Phoenixville community, and we want to ensure they have a dignified place to call home to enjoy their golden years,” said Urscheler. “It was a pleasure working with Hankin Group as they understood our vision and mission to turn this derelict property into a jewel for our community. They delivered on our promise.”

Hankin Manor, located at 115 Buchanan Street, represents a significant milestone in addressing the pressing need for affordable senior housing in the region. This 50-unit apartment community, managed by Hankin Apartments, is poised to provide comfortable and modern living spaces for its senior residents, contributing to the vibrancy and inclusivity of the Phoenixville community.

Attendees had the chance to tour the community and enjoy light refreshments, symbolizing the spirit of collaboration and community engagement underpinning the Hankin Manor project.

Hankin Manor represents a collaborative effort between Hankin Group, Phoenixville Borough, Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, Chester County Department of Community Development, Key Bank, and Phoenixville Federal Bank & Trust.

Architects on the project were UpStreet Architects and NORR, structural engineering by NORR, MEP engineering by East Hills Engineering, civil engineering by Cedarville Engineering Group, and construction by Hankin Construction.
